Survey of valuable habitats in Finland

This sites gives a summary of the cumulative results of surveys of especially important habitats carried out 1998 - 2002.

During 1998-2003, the regional Forestry Centres and Forestry Development Centre Tapio will survey habitats of special importance as defined in the Forest Act within an extensive joint project. In the project, which is commissioned by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, 10 million hectares will be charted as a special survey. The remaining 5 million hectares of private forests are surveyed in connection with forest management planning.
